soon...still.

The time is closing in upon me
Soon I will be home again
I have wandered, wondered, filled with purpose
contained a mind with thoughts of rest

And now that time so quickly passes
everything must draw too close
I will not wander, lost and lonely,
Armed with ages, present, past

So the new path lies before me
So I must begin afresh
Now my life begins with purpose
Now I write to soothe distress.

Which Literary Character Are You?

You are Juliet from Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. You are a romantic, but are not afraid to stand up for what you want. While you believe in happily ever after you are no damsel in distress and have a strong mind.

Often considered one of the greatest love stories of all time, Romeo and Juliet is one of Shakespeare's most famous plays. This tragic play was first published in 1623. Shakespeare is one of the most well-known playwrights in Western literature. He wrote tragic, comedic and historic plays as well as poems and much else.

Snowball - Our Dancing Cockatoo

At least once a day, I watch Snowball dancing. He makes the world seem like a better and happier place. Check out the Grey in the background, trying to imitate him. Everything about this video makes me smile.

Well, life ticks on at an alarming rate; my research trip draws into the final stages. I've just returned from London and the British Library. What an incredible place to work. I have now gathered enough material for my thesis (for three theses, in fact, and maybe a book, too). I can't imagine trying to write a thesis on Working-Class Victorian Britain without having lived in Manchester. The history virtual walks right off the pavement here. So, needless to say, my academic life keeps me extremely busy.

I am starting to train more regularly again (thanks, Colin!). As much as I love working here, living in England seems entirely non-conducive to training. Perhaps its because I never really got situated with a group of athletes here. I think it would be easier if I did have training partners here, like my good friend Terry, with whom I went on a number of runs when I was staying with him in London. The air-quality in the city is atrocious. I miss my trees and my ocean. I miss mornings at the pool and runs in Point Pleasant Park. In three weeks, I will be back and it will be time to work myself to the bone to get back into shape for next season. Right now I'm running well, but that's about it. Actually, it's nice to be running well for a change. It makes for a different start to the season than last year...
